Our History

On October 17, 1985 God brought together eighteen people to begin our ministry known as
Fellowship Baptist Church of Ferndale. Following several weeks of meeting in homes, God
graciously provided the use of the Ferndale Linthicum Senior Citizens Center on November
24th in which to conduct our Sunday and Wednesday worship services. During this time,
God led us to 6 1/2 acres of land which we purchased on November 23, 1987 for $65,000.00
"debt-free"! Shortly thereafter, we outgrew the Senior Center and were permitted to use the
George T. Cromwell Elementary School just around the corner. It was there that we stayed
until the construction and completion of our current place of worship on Sundown Road
"debt-free" at just over $800,000.00! We broke ground on March 21, 1993 and dedicated God's
house on June 25, 1995.

On October 16, 2009, we celebrated 24 years of blessing with "Let it Shine in 2009" as
we announced plans for the door to door ministry to our neighbors of 24,000 families reached
in our 24th year. We also continue to work towards the full fiscal funding of "The Harvest
Center" by 2010, our 25th Anniversary. This multi-purpose facility, which will enhance and
expand our ministry for the enjoyment of all and will also be done "debt-free". This endeavor
marks another moment in our history to the glory of God. Our history is "His" story at F.B.C.
